Links As Labs is the trademarked name First Green uses for our local programs. This includes the field trips and other environmental education programs that take place on the golf course. Local programs work best if they are structured like a three-legged stool -- three individual components resulting in a stable structure. First Green involves the teacher/school, the golf course superintendent and golf club member volunteers. The club volunteers are helpful to both the golf course superintendent on field trip days and to the teacher in helping to support the classroom and school whenever possible.
The First Green Foundation was established to promote and provide environmental education on golf courses—using golf courses as outdoor learning labs. The foundation provides teacher in-service and golf course superintendent professional development programs. It also acts as a resource in connecting teachers and local golf superintendents. The organization has 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.
